Fire Communications Officer Role

The Fire Communications Officer is responsible for emergency call taking, dispatching on-scene communications, coordinating and managing resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accept incoming fire and other relevant emergency incident calls and enquiries and collect relevant information
  • Assess risks and determine appropriate response and resources to dispatch
  • Despatch and coordinate resources and notify other organisations per the Communication Doctrine and Directives
Requirements

Mandatory Requirements

  • Currently holds a valid Blue Card, with attached evidence to support
  • Australian Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship
  • Have or be able to obtain Certificate III in Public Safety (Emergency Communications Centre Operations)

Desirable Requirements

  • Typing speed of 45 wpm with 95% accuracy
  • Have or be able to obtain Apply First Aid and CPR Certificates
