
Empowering Lives Through Mental Health Disability Support

Mental health disability support workers play a vital role in empowering individuals with mental health conditions and disabilities to achieve their goals and improve their overall well-being.
As a mental health disability support worker, you will be responsible for delivering person-centred support aligned with participant goals and individual care plans.
You will work closely with participants to understand their needs and preferences, and develop strategies to promote their independence, self-advocacy, and social engagement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering Person-Centred Support: Work with participants to identify their strengths, interests, and goals, and develop strategies to promote their independence and self-advocacy.
- Implementing Restrictive Practices and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs): Safely and confidently implement restrictive practices and BSPs to ensure the physical and emotional safety of participants.
- Supporting Daily Living and Emotional Regulation: Assist participants with daily living tasks, such as personal care, meal preparation, and household chores, while also providing emotional regulation support to help manage stress and anxiety.
The ideal candidate has:
- Minimum 12 Months Experience: A minimum of 12 months experience working in mental health disability support is required.
- Proven Ability to Implement Restrictive Practices: Proven ability to safely and confidently implement restrictive practices and follow positive behaviour support plans.
- Certificate III or IV in Disability, Mental Health or Related Field: A Certificate III or IV in Disability, Mental Health, or a related field is essential.
A certificate in mental health peer support or trauma-informed care training is highly regarded, demonstrating a commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for delivering high-quality support services.
