As a seasoned Underwriter, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the risk management strategies at our organization. With your analytical skills and industry expertise, you will evaluate the creditworthiness of clients, assess the risk associated with lending and investment activities, and provide recommendations to support sound decision-making.

About the Role:

You will be responsible for conducting thorough analyses of mortgage applications, managing lending delegations, mentoring junior underwriters, cultivating trusted relationships with brokers and customers, and offering scenario assistance to Business Development Managers and Brokers.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 2 years of underwriting experience in the residential mortgage sector, with a focus on non-conforming mortgages.

In addition, you will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • A comprehensive understanding of relevant regulatory legislation.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills and a strong sense of initiative.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional telephone manner.
  • A technical understanding of underwriting and an ability to communicate coherently to clients, customers, and colleagues.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to shape and negotiate deals.
  • The ability to thrive in high-pressure environments.
