Senior Energy Counsel Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our Energy Solutions and Delivery team. The successful candidate will provide expert legal advice on major projects, contracts, and regulatory matters.

  • Provide timely and commercially-oriented legal advice on a wide range of energy projects, including greenfield and brownfield initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to design and implement effective legal services and processes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners and suppliers to drive business growth and success.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in commercial law, construction law, and contract negotiation. A strong understanding of the Australian energy market and relevant regulations is also essential.

This is a permanent full-time position based in Brisbane (or Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth). We offer a competitive remuneration package, employee benefits, flexible working arrangements, and wellbeing programs.

">Key Responsibilities:
  • Delivery of effective, timely, commercial and pragmatic legal advice in relation to energy projects and associated general commercial advisory and dispute resolution.
  • Joint venture / bidding agreements, and other documentation for early-stage development projects such as HOAs, MOUs, LOIs and term sheets.
  • General and ancillary commercial contracts for all business units, such as recoverable works agreements.
  • High level regulatory matters, including gas inquiries and ring-fencing issues.
  • Management of legal risk in relation to major projects and commercial areas across the business.
  • Assist the Group Counsel in the design, implementation and governance of standards and processes to drive efficiency in the use of legal services, including self-service tools and guidance materials.
