Job Overview

The Reefworld Chef plays a pivotal role in delivering an exceptional 5-star dining experience to guests from around the world, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Great Barrier Reef.

Reporting directly to the Food & Beverage Manager, you will be responsible for orchestrating the day-to-day kitchen operations at Reefworld with a hands-on approach, ensuring that every guest has a memorable meal.

To excel in this role, you will need to showcase your culinary creativity by crafting exquisite menus that delight the senses and elevate the dining experience. Your commitment to hygiene, cleanliness, and safety will ensure a pristine environment, allowing you to focus on creating unforgettable meals that captivate and inspire.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily kitchen operations at Reefworld with a proactive approach.
  • Maintain 5-star service standards, exceeding expectations for an exceptional guest experience.
  • Understand and accommodate diverse food allergies and dietary requirements for guests.
  • Ensure inventory and stock levels are maintained, critical for seamless operations on a remote pontoon.
  • Provide administrative support, including ordering, email management, and the creation of SOPs, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

To succeed as the Reefworld Chef, you will require:

  • A relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery, demonstrating your expertise in culinary arts.
  • A minimum of three years' experience in a similar chef's role, showcasing your ability to manage high-pressure kitchen environments.
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification, ensuring you can handle liquor-related tasks with confidence.
  • Food Safety Supervisor (Level 1 - SITXFSA005 Use hygienic practices for food safety & Level 2 - SITXFSA006 Participate in safe food handling practices) qualifications, highlighting your commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and HLTAID015 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation & Apply basic oxygen certifications, demonstrating your ability to respond to emergencies effectively.
  • QLD Working with Children's Check (Blue Card), confirming your suitability to work with minors.
