We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our Maintenance Team at our Broken Hill Mineral Separation Plant. The successful candidate will work on a permanent basis, with a 9 day fortnight roster and a compressed 38 hour week.

About the Role

The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for:

  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Performing maintenance activities such as fault finding, installation, maintenance, and repair of plant and equipment.
  • Monitoring operating equipment to detect potential problems.
  • Assembling and installing machinery and equipment according to layout plans and manufacturer instructions.
  • Performing preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Conducting tests and inspections to ensure proper functioning of machinery and equipment.
  • Adhering to safety protocols and regulations at all times.
  • Collaborating with team members and other departments to ensure smooth operations.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Mechanical Trade qualification (Fitter / Boilermaker).
  • The ability to work independently or as part of a cohesive, multi-trade maintenance team.
  • Previous experience gained within a fixed plant processing environment.
  • A strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A valid Driver's License.
  • The ability to work nightshift.
