About the Opportunity

The Government of Western Australia's Department of Water and Environmental Regulation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Industry Regulation team.

We are looking for a talented individual to manage a team of environmental officers responsible for assessing and regulating environmental risks associated with various industries in Western Australia.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in environmental regulation, risk assessment, and team leadership. They will be responsible for providing expert scientific advice, contributing to policy and regulatory reform, and representing the department on various committees and forums.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of environmental officers responsible for assessing and regulating environmental risks associated with various industries in Western Australia.
  • Provide expert scientific advice and contribute to policy and regulatory reform.
  • Represent the department on various committees and forums.
  • Manage contentious issues and support other areas of the department, such as compliance and enforcement programs.
  • Contribute to the development of better practice to support industry regulation.

Requirements:

  • Strong background in environmental regulation, risk assessment, and team leadership.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
