About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Trades or Technical individual to join our facilities team as a Data Centre Technician, working on a 24/7 basis in Macquarie Park.

This entry-level role provides full on-the-job training to bring you up to speed on all aspects of data center facility management and critical infrastructure, including Cooling, Electrical, Cabling Infrastructure, Building Monitoring, and Fire systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver cabling needs, electrical and data, to customer racks and areas.
  • Attend to Remote Hands requests and assist with vendor management for maintenance of all core electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Ensure facility problems are identified and resolved in a timely manner, monitoring building management / monitoring systems 24/7.
  • Escalate issues internally or to vendors as relevant and ensure all visitors and contractors adhere to NEXTDC facility rules.
  • Perform manual handling tasks and, from time to time, travel between sites as required.
Requirements
  • Excellent customer service, communication skills, and a 'can do' attitude.
  • Basic knowledge of data centres, data cabling, and cable management (desirable).
  • A passion for learning about telecommunications and how things work.
  • Keen interest in fixing and solving problems.
  • TAFE Cert in Telecommunications (desirable) or Trade Certs (Electrician/HVAC Technician) (desirable).
  • Candidates MUST be Australian Citizens due to security clearances required.
