We are seeking a skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a General Hand in the City of Mandurah's Parks and Gardens department. As a General Hand, you will be responsible for undertaking general parks and gardens maintenance throughout the City, including the maintenance of road corridors and other City-owned and managed assets and land.
Key Responsibilities- Operate ride-on mowers, edgers, blowers, and brush cutters to maintain parks and gardens.
- Monitor turf and garden water needs to ensure optimal growth and health.
- Assist with garden maintenance, including mulching, planting, and pruning of vegetated areas.
- Apply chemicals such as wetting agents and fertilisers to turf and garden areas.
- Install vertical pine pole bollards and other fencing as required.
- Undertake basic daily maintenance and safety inspections of equipment and mowing machinery used in the course of duty.
- Respond to customer enquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
- Certificate II in Horticulture and/or Certificate II in Turf Management.
- Current White Card.
- Current unrestricted MR class drivers licence.
- Previous experience working in a parks and gardens environment.
- Basic horticultural knowledge.
- Knowledge and experience in the safe operation of garden maintenance equipment.
- Experience and knowledge in the safe handling and application of weed spraying chemicals.
- Competent in the use of tablets, smartphones, and other electronic devices.
- A permanent full-time OSE 2 position with a salary range of $67,801 - $69,563 gross per annum dependent on qualifications and experience.
