NSW Government is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Specialist in Forensic Pathology to join our team.
About the RoleThe Staff Specialist will provide high-quality diagnostic, consultative, and procedural services in Forensic Pathology, as well as participate in teaching, research, quality improvement, and administrative activities. The successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide a timely and respectful service for the deceased, families, and the wider community.
Key Responsibilities- Provide diagnostic, consultative, and procedural services in Forensic Pathology, including on-call services.
- Participate in teaching, research, quality improvement, and administrative activities, as required.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide a timely and respectful service for the deceased, families, and the wider community.
- Develop and maintain expertise in Forensic Pathology, including staying up-to-date with the latest research and developments in the field.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to Forensic Pathology.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in Forensic Pathology, or other specialist recognition as provided under the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
- Demonstrated contemporary clinical knowledge and technical expertise in Forensic Pathology.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and development, including evidence of participation in continuing medical education and continuing professional development.
- Demonstrated participation in teaching and training at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, including supervision of junior medical staff.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including excellent communication and organisational skills, with capacity to manage competing priorities.
- Demonstrated commitment to the principles of clinical quality management, continuous improvement, and a contemporary knowledge of National Pathology Accreditation Advisory Council (NPAAC) Standards and NATA accreditation processes.
- Proven ability to work with the deceased in an environment that could be distressing, ensuring to raise any associated concerns and/or need for support, adopting self-care strategies and promoting same for staff.
- Demonstrated capacity to adopt and model the NSWHP RITE values of Respect, Integrity, Teamwork, and Excellence.
To be successful in this role, you will need to:
- Meet the selection criteria outlined above.
- Hold a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) issued by the Office of the Children's Guardian.
- Be willing to undergo a background check and provide evidence of your qualifications and registration with AHPRA.
