Senior Contracts Manager Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Senior Contracts Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing contracts throughout the project life cycle, including creation of back-to-back contract terms, review and negotiation of subcontractors and supplier agreements, and management of key project documentation/contracts.

  • Responsibilities include:
  • Creation of back-to-back contract terms to pass through head contract obligations to subcontractors
  • Provide handover to project team of contract documents
  • Assist with review and negotiation of subcontractors and supplier agreements in line with company risk positions
  • Provide rights and obligations summary to project team
  • Set up process and templates for site teams' strict compliance with contract notices
  • Review letters and contractual correspondence
  • Ensure systems in place for the management of subcontractors
  • Management of key project documentation/contracts
  • Provide assistance to project teams for management of disputes (including recognition of heads of claim, claims assessment, and strength of position in line with contractual entitlements)
  • Assist in the development of strategies for successful resolution of disputes
  • Analyse and report on the success of disputes to inform decisions by senior management
  • Ensure compliance with the Delegation of Authority Matrix and the company commercial framework
  • Develop relationships with key commercial stakeholders
  • Develop plans to address project lessons learnt around the Commercial function and feedback to pre-contracts team
  • Close out audit actions within specified timeframes
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • At least 7+ years experience in a similar role within the Australian Civil and infrastructure space
  • Degree qualified in Business Law, Construction Management, Commerce, Quantity surveying or similar - preferable
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role that encompasses the full project lifecycle, across multiple live contracts at any given time – A must
  • Demonstrated experience in dispute management – Highly regarded
  • Ability to travel to site on an ad hoc basis
  • Brings a positive, solution-focused, results-oriented attitude
  • Achieves cohesive and an effective team spirit
