Civil Estimating Specialist

About the Role:

This is a pivotal position within a contractor company, supporting their continued growth and success.

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing comprehensive tenders. Reporting to the Estimating Manager and working closely with the Director, you will collaborate with an experienced support team to target civil projects throughout Southeast Queensland.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct first-principles estimating to meet high-quality standards and deadlines.
  • Engage with subcontractors and suppliers for tender negotiations and coordination.
  • Manage the bid process, ensuring tenders are presented effectively.
  • Collaborate with team members, subcontractors, and suppliers to identify opportunities for added value.
  • Provide insights and advice on construction methods, including project methodologies and scheduling.
  • Assess risks and opportunities to refine estimates.
  • Participate in pre- and post-tender negotiations to secure favorable outcomes.
  • Utilize problem-solving skills to overcome challenges and improve processes.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of civil estimating experience, particularly in Southeast Queensland.
  • Expertise in first-principles estimating, especially for earthworks.
  • Proficiency in using estimation software.
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions to outperform competitors.
  • Strong team player committed to achieving corporate and client goals.
  • Advanced skills in planning, reporting, and analysis.
