Aboriginal Health Worker Role Overview

This Aboriginal Health Worker position is focused on delivering culturally safe health services to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in bridging cultural connections, advocating for patients, and providing primary health care services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive primary health care services addressing the physical, emotional, cultural, and environmental needs of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues as a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Develop and deliver health promotion initiatives using computer programs to plan, document, and enhance care delivery.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander heritage with established links to the local community.
  • Hold a minimum of Certificate III qualification in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or a relevant Certificate III health qualification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the local Aboriginal community including awareness of health and wellbeing issues.
