As a Counsellor with UnitingCare Queensland, you will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people who have experienced abuse or problematic sexual behaviour.
The FaDS team works passionately across Queensland to provide integrated counselling services that address a range of issues arising from sexual abuse through therapeutic and family/carer-based support services, assessment, and individual case plans responsive to the needs of children, young people, and families/carers.
Your Key Responsibilities- Provide holistic counselling services to children and young people aged 5-18 who have experienced abuse or problematic sexual behaviour, and their non-offending family members/carers.
- Address complex issues arising from sexual abuse through evidence-informed therapeutic and family/carer-based support services, assessment, and individual case plans responsive to the needs of children, young people, and families/carers.
- A degree in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, or Behavioural Science is required for this role.
- Eligibility for registration or membership to AASW, APS, ACA, PACFA, or other recognised bodies is also essential.
- A current Driver's Licence and Working with Children Check (Blue Card) are mandatory.
- You should be able to articulate knowledge of current practice and theories working effectively with:
- Children and young people (5-18 years old) who have been sexually abused.
- Children (5-18 years old) who display problematic sexual behaviours or early sexual offending behaviours.
- Non-offending parents and carers of children referred to the program.
