Protective Security Professional

The position of Protective Security Professional is responsible for ensuring the security of business operations in Australia. This involves strategic oversight of protective security across governance, personnel and physical security to support the delivery of business objectives.

The Protective Security Professional ensures that all security requirements are met for contracts and agreements with the Australian Government and supports wider security operations as required.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide expert advice and incident response on security matters.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive security policies and plans.
  • Conduct regular threat and risk assessments to ensure suitability of security posture in specific areas.
  • Conduct regular security audits to ensure business activities comply with accreditation or regulatory standards.
  • Where required, engage with external accreditation and regulatory bodies on specific matters relating to operational security activities.
  • Investigate and respond to incidents in critical circumstances to protect business operations and staff.
  • Provide detailed information on key security content where required to facilitate liaison with External and Internal Comms on investigations or incidents.
  • Establish effective procedures to achieve security outcomes consistent with Australian Government policies and legal requirements.
  • Foster a positive security culture where personnel understand their responsibilities to manage security risk.
  • Ensure information and security awareness training programs are in place to inform personnel of their security obligations.
  • Establish security performance measures to ensure required protections are achieved.
  • Disseminate and manage intelligence and threat information to stakeholders across the entity.
  • Manage Defence Industry Security Program requirements including reporting and security clearances.
  • Directly manage access control, security keys and the security of information in the Canberra facility.
  • Travel to Australian sites to review security controls, conduct staff training and provide security-related presentations as required.
