Defence Security Expert Role

This critical defence security role offers a comprehensive scope, with key responsibilities including:

  • Perform in-depth security assessments of Defence ICT systems, identifying vulnerabilities and evaluating control effectiveness to ensure the highest level of security.
  • Develop authoritative security assessment reports and authorisation briefs in accordance with CSAA and DCIAB standards to guide informed decision-making.
  • Provide expert advice on ICT security risks, threats, and mitigation strategies across complex systems such as radar, satellite, and aircraft networks to support strategic planning.
  • Engage in collaborative stakeholder meetings and contribute to Directorate reporting and briefings to foster effective communication.
  • Support the CSAA authorisation process through ongoing engagement, edits, and governance compliance to maintain the integrity of Defence systems.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Demonstrated experience as an IRAP Assessor conducting Defence ICT security assessments and risk management.
  • In-depth knowledge of PSPF, ISM, DSPF, and the CSAA A&A Framework to drive informed decision-making.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, or IRAP Assessor endorsement to validate expertise.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills with the ability to deliver clear, actionable security recommendations to drive results.
  • Independence and integrity, with no prior involvement in system design or documentation, and willingness to complete Conflict of Interest checks to maintain the highest level of professionalism.
