Job Overview:

We are seeking a tax professional for a fixed-term contract to manage all tax-related matters, working closely with senior management, regional & Group tax teams, and external stakeholders.

This role is responsible for overseeing the Australian Tax function and ensuring compliance with the global tax framework established by our organisation. Key responsibilities include:

  • Tax Compliance
    • Review and sign off on corporate income tax computations and returns, payments to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), manage ATO enquiries and audits
    • Manage GST and other taxes, as well as payroll taxes and FBT
  • Tax Risk Management
    • Develop local tax policy and governance framework pursuant to the Group's tax strategy and published guidance from the ATO
    • Execute internal tax control testing and manage the Australian tax risk register
    • Assist with monitoring tax key financial controls, and recommend improvements where appropriate
  • Tax Planning and Business Support
    • Identify planning opportunities and lead on direct and indirect plans
    • Provide business support on tax implications of contract tendering & renewals, M&A, capex, business reorganisations, employee compensation etc.
  • Tax Reporting
    • Review and sign off on reporting to the Group of budget, forecast, and year-end corporate tax submissions (and monthly cash tax reporting to the Group)
    • Review and sign off on tax disclosures in local statutory accounts
  • Leadership
    • Embrace the Finance community and encourage the training and development of team members, particularly in relation to tax compliance
    • Collaborate with the Finance team to ensure consistent leadership across Compass AU
  • People & Culture
    • Develop good relationships with fellow team members to foster a culture of financial and operational excellence
    • Support the business in meeting the needs of stakeholders and operating in accordance with Compass values and culture

Key Requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Professional certification in taxation (e.g. CA, CTA)
  • Proven experience in tax management and compliance
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
