About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highways Supervisor to join our Operations Team at Dyer & Butler. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of our highway maintenance services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver highway maintenance services in line with contract requirements and to the satisfaction of our clients and their customers.
  • Ensure all work allocated is appropriately programmed, planned, supervised, and executed in accordance with specifications, drawings, dimensions, and within agreed commercial limits.
  • Comply with TMA notifications for all works and ensure compliance with the Red Book Code of Practice for Roadworks.
  • Focus on operational gross margins of all work delivered, from pre-works planning to on-site supervision.
  • Effectively manage and motivate teams to achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • Take corrective action as necessary to ensure the best possible outcome.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day Health & Safety of directly employed staff and Supply Chain Partners.
  • Support the implementation of operational procedures and company policies.
  • Ensure all work carried out is in accordance with local operational procedures and company policies.
  • Agree, set, and monitor performance objectives in terms of time, cost, safety, and quality programme.
  • Provide training, development, and encouragement to staff and operatives to ensure all works are resourced with sufficiently competent and motivated resources.
  • Ensure a regular timetable of internal communication with staff and operatives.
  • Deliver regular toolbox talks and safety briefings to site staff.
  • Effectively manage all vehicles and plant used in the depot.
  • Actively promote continuous improvement within the depot.
  • Provide support in the development and mentoring of apprentices.
  • Partake in Emergency and Winter Maintenance call-out rotas.
  • Resource appropriate and adequate internal and Supply Chain resources to deliver the workload in a safe, efficient, and profitable manner.
Requirements
  • Experience in construction delivery and workforce supervision.
  • Commercially driven to capture working cost efficiencies, cost control, and saving money wherever possible.
  • Experience within the highway maintenance industry would be desirable, along with relevant certifications.
  • Effective team management, leadership, motivational, and influencing skills.
  • Excellent customer skills and the ability to demonstrate influencing in all situations.
  • Good general IT skills, ideally proficient in Microsoft Office products.
  • The ability to drive excellent relationships with contacts at all levels.
