About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highways Supervisor to join our Operations Team at Dyer & Butler. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of our highway maintenance services.
Key Responsibilities- Service Delivery: Ensure that all highway maintenance services are delivered in line with contract requirements and to the satisfaction of our clients and their customers.
- Work Planning and Execution: Plan, supervise, and execute all work allocated to ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, dimensions, and commercial limits. This includes ensuring compliance with TMA notifications and the Red Book Code of Practice for Roadworks.
- Operational Efficiency: Focus on operational gross margins and take corrective action to ensure the best possible outcome. Empower your teams to achieve their best and take ownership of operational performance.
- Health and Safety: Ensure the day-to-day health and safety of directly employed staff and supply chain partners.
- Implementation of MiLife: Support the implementation of MiLife within the depot.
- Work Instructions and Performance Monitoring: Ensure all work carried out is in accordance with local operational procedures and Milestone policies. Monitor performance objectives in terms of time, cost, safety, and quality.
- Training and Development: Provide training, development, and encouragement to staff and operatives to ensure all works are resourced with sufficiently competent and motivated resources.
- Communication and Teamwork: Foster a positive and inclusive team culture, promoting open communication and collaboration among team members.
- Vehicle and Plant Management: Effectively manage all vehicles and plant used in the depot, ensuring they are used to full potential.
- Continuous Improvement: Actively promote continuous improvement within the depot, identifying opportunities for process enhancements and implementing changes as needed.
- Support and Development: Provide support in the development and mentoring of apprentices and contribute to the growth and success of the team.
- Experience: Proven experience in construction delivery and workforce supervision, with a strong background in highway maintenance.
- Commercial Acumen: Commercially driven to capture working cost efficiencies, cost control, and saving money wherever possible for the mutual benefit of the client and Dyer & Butler.
- Leadership and Team Management: Effective team management, leadership, motivational, and influencing skills to get the best from everyone.
- Customer Focus: Excellent customer skills and the ability to demonstrate influencing in all situations.
- IT Skills: Good general IT skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Relationship Building: The ability to drive excellent relationships with contacts at all levels – from the client to colleagues and contacts across the wider Dyer & Butler and M Group Services.
