Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Underwriting Assistant to join our team in Sydney, NSW. As an Underwriting Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the Underwriters in their line of business, ensuring the efficient service of local produced accounts and compliance with AXA XL policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the offshore team to ensure timely requests of quotes, name clearance, and accurate binding of quotes are met.
  • Proactively engage with underwriting to ensure an efficient and smooth account handover for accounts, ensuring information received is understood and complete to process/instruct policies on system(s).
  • Implement system procedures and create instruction documents, ensuring related data is complete and accurate to instruct local policy details.
  • Ensure complete documentation of files handled by the role holder in the UW file (on document management system).
  • Accountable for correct premium, commission, and tax bookings in processing systems.
  • Liaise with local staff to resolve queries and track implementation progress.
  • Implement mid-term endorsements, issue certificates of insurance, and focus on premium collection monitoring (according to the processing rules and guidelines, incl. system data entries).
  • Address requests originating from clients/brokers immediately and refer to Underwriters.
  • Develop expert-level knowledge of systems and processes, acting as a reference point for others when questions arise or uncertainties exist.
  • Ensure data quality accuracy ratios at the defined level/metrics.
Requirements
  • Possess permanent Australian working rights for this role.
  • Proven experience in the insurance industry with an operations background in middle office, with previous experience in a corporate organization ideal.
  • Able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of sophistication.
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Capability to work collaboratively with a virtual team.
  • Attention to detail: Understands the importance of getting the little details right and takes pride in getting it right the first time.
  • Great time management skills are essential.
