POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for a proactive, creative, and dedicated professional with proven experience in fostering and sustaining effective relationships across various teams and governmental agencies.

The ideal applicant will possess a comprehensive understanding and experience in collaborative government operations and decision-making processes to drive policy development and achieve outcomes.

A merit list may be established from this recruitment process for future opportunities within the Policy and Programs Group at the Australian Trade and Investment Commission.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a vital link between the Australian Trade and Investment Commission's global network and other governmental departments/agencies, you will:

  • Guide and mentor team members while providing innovative and strategic policy recommendations to realize investment objectives, along with timely insights and advice to the Austrade network to facilitate the achievement of government priorities.
  • Establish and maintain connections to regularly engage with relevant governmental departments/agencies, ensuring that Austrade's stance is communicated effectively in whole-of-government policy initiatives and to influence and support investment priorities.
  • Assist team members in coordinating and formulating Austrade's contributions to critical areas affecting Australia's economic security, including foreign investment, skilled workforce and migration, critical minerals investment, critical technologies, and cybersecurity.
  • Deliver high-quality, data-driven briefings, analyses, and policy recommendations to the Minister and Austrade Senior Executive to inform and influence governmental discussions and decisions on investment matters.
  • Represent Austrade in comprehensive governmental processes and support the Senior Executive in policy discussions that affect the investment landscape and Australia's global competitiveness.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across Austrade, including the Trade & Investment Divisions and Visitor Economy Division, on issues influencing foreign investment and skilled migration policies.
