About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Lawyer to join our dynamic Legal & Compliance team at the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW. As an In-House Lawyer, you will work closely with the General Counsel, CEO, and other commercial and operational teams to provide legal advice and research on various business activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice to support the Sydney Showground, Easter Show, Agriculture, and Education teams.
  • Protect the RAS' Intellectual Property Portfolio and compete for new trademarks as required.
  • Assist with the administration of compliance training, including Corporate Governance, Work, Health and Safety, Employment Law, and Working with Children Checks database for compliance with Kids Guardian Legislation.
  • Assist with public liability claims and run commercial dispute negotiations.
  • Draft legal and commercial advice for Sydney Showground events and the Easter Show.
  • Prepare a wide variety of contracts and support staff through the contracting processes, including sponsorship, naming rights, construction, and technology agreements.
  • Assist with contract and corporate governance audits.
  • Manage face-to-face legal training and various databases for legal and compliance.
Requirements
  • Australian Practicing Certificate, qualified to provide legal advice in NSW.
  • Experience providing legal and operational advice to various stakeholders.
  • Qualification or experience in corporate governance, risk management, and Work Health and Safety.
  • Thorough understanding of legal concepts and contract law, insurance, and legal operations.
  • Experience working in a variety of contract administration software.
  • MS Office 365 at an intermediate level.
  • Experience in administration, including claims handling of accidents.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Able to build and maintain strong working relations with clients and the team.
  • Excellent communication, written, oral, and social skills.
  • Excellent ethical foundation and professional attitude.
  • Will to undertake a police clearance check if required.
