Job Title: Technical Officer

We are seeking an experienced Technical Officer to work in a Clinical and Health Science environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical, operational, and administrative support for daily teaching and research activities in microbiology/immunology laboratories.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support for laboratory operations, ensuring safe and effective working conditions, and compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
  • Collaborate with academic staff, students, and external users to ensure best practices are followed, and provide guidance and advice on laboratory procedures and protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports, contributing to quality improvement initiatives within the department.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Relevant qualification or extensive experience in microbiology labs and PC2 facilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage diverse stakeholders, including academic staff, students, and external users.
  • Excellent organisation, research, and prioritisation skills in complex environments.
  • Proactive, customer-focused, and able to work independently or in a team.
  • Knowledge of WHS legislation, risk assessment, and lab safety procedures.
