About the Role

The School Counsellor/Social Worker plays a pivotal role in our Student Engagement and Wellbeing Team at Martian Logic. As a key member of our team, you will support the psychological and emotional wellbeing of students by providing individual and group counselling, managing emotional and behavioural challenges, and collaborating with students, staff, parents, and the broader community.

This role demands initiative, expertise, and discretion to appropriately manage varying levels of confidentiality in addressing issues related to students' mental health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and group counselling for emotional and behavioural issues, promoting a safe and supportive environment for students to express themselves.
  • Develop strategies for student support and offer crisis intervention, ensuring timely and effective responses to emerging needs.
  • Collaborate on wellbeing programs and provide guidance and support to staff in managing students with emotional and behavioural challenges, fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect.
  • Liaise with external agencies for additional support and referrals, ensuring seamless connections for students and families.
Selection Criteria

We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and qualified Counsellor or allied health professional with excellent communication skills, who is well-versed on contemporary mental health matters affecting young people.

  • Expertise in providing psychological and emotional support to students, with a strong commitment to handling sensitive information with discretion and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ability to manage crises and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, including students, staff, parents, and external agencies.
  • Innovative and inclusive approach to education and student wellbeing, with a focus on promoting positive relationships and outcomes.
Qualifications
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and registration with AHPRA or an equivalent professional association.
  • Experience in educational counselling and understanding of youth mental health, with a commitment to staying up-to-date with best practices and research.
