Program Leader - Suicide Prevention Services
The role entails providing leadership in delivering an innovative suicide prevention drop-in program, SafeHaven, which offers rapid access to compassionate care for people in suicidal crisis, and supports access to appropriate services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead high-quality recovery-oriented, trauma-informed support for individuals using the SafeHaven, in collaboration with Peer Suicide Prevention Workers.
- Provide leadership in delivering an innovative suicide prevention drop-in program that serves as an alternative to the Emergency Department.
- Facilitate education to staff and community members about suicide prevention; support program development and quality improvement.
- Ensure evening shifts are covered, as the SafeHaven is open 5pm – 9pm, six days a week.
- Coordinate with health staff, services, and stakeholders to ensure safe transfer of care and access to psychosocial supports.
- Provide supervision and support to staff with reflective supervision and ongoing training.
Essential Criteria:
- Tertiary qualifications in a health-related field and/or extensive relevant experience working with individuals experiencing suicidal crisis.
- Strong understanding of suicide prevention needs and commitment to reducing suicide in the community.
- Experience in managing staff, service development, and quality improvement.
- Experience delivering recovery-oriented, trauma-informed work and safety planning with individuals experiencing suicidal distress.
