
Safety Assurance Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and capable SSEQ Compliance Advisor to join our team in a key operational role supporting both day and night shifts. This is a frontline role providing second-line assurance across all maintenance and construction works at the airport.
\\Key Responsibilities:\- \
- Conduct assurance inspections and audits during both day and curfew periods.\
- Monitor contractor compliance with WHS (Work Health and Safety), quality, environmental, and security obligations.\
- Provide advice and coaching on risk controls.\
- Participate in risk workshops, toolbox talks, and pre-start briefings.\
- Assess contractor SWMS (Safe Work Method Statements), Safety and Quality Management Plans, and permits.\
- Support coordination between projects, maintenance, and operations.\
- Assist with return-to-service tasks after curfew periods.\
- Help implement Sydney Airport's Critical Risk Program, including assurance processes.\
- Identify and support initiatives for ongoing improvement.\
- Ensure adherence to Australian Standards, NCC/BCA (National Construction Code/Building Code of Australia), and WHS legislation.\
- Post-Curfew Activities: Assist with return-to-service tasks after curfew periods.\
- Continuous Improvement: Identify and support initiatives for ongoing improvement.\
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to Australian Standards, NCC/BCA (National Construction Code/Building Code of Australia), and WHS legislation.\
- Review and improve processes to ensure they remain effective and efficient.\
- Develop and maintain relationships with contractors and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.\
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and effective communication.\\[\Requirements:\
We are looking for an individual with the following qualifications and skills:

- Tertiary qualifications in construction, engineering, WHS, or a related trade.\
- Experience in construction supervision or compliance roles.\
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, QA systems, and risk management.\
- Skilled in incident response, inspections, and contractor engagement.\
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and permits.\
- Familiarity with Australian construction standards (e.g. BCA, NCC).\
- Understanding of contractor management, construction safety, and high-risk work frameworks.\
- WHS or Lead Auditor certification (preferred).\
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.\
- Able to work rotating shifts and manage competing priorities.\
- Customer-focused with a commitment to service delivery.\
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.\
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.\
- Results-driven with a strong focus on delivering results.\
