Key Role in Public Health Initiatives
The position of Assistant Director plays a pivotal role in supporting the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) and other programs aimed at improving health outcomes and medical technology/magic access for all Australians.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead a team to deliver projects, including financial/scenario modelling to support medicine listing on the PBS
- Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to team members
- Develop written materials (policy papers, reports, briefs)
- Communicate complex data into analysis and modelling results for non-technical audiences
- Establish relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
- Health-related science qualifications (epidemiology, medicine, pharmacy, biochemistry, nursing)
- Relevant experience in economics, computer science, data science, statistics, or financial modelling is highly regarded
- Programming skills in data analysis tools (Excel, SAS, R, Python, SQL) and data visualization tools (Tableau, Qlik)
- Supervisory experience within a team environment
- Advanced knowledge in time series forecasting, budget estimates, and costing models
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication and stakeholder interaction skills
