About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Perinatal Psychiatrist Consultant to join our team at St John of God Health Care. As a Consultant Psychiatrist for Maternal and Infant Care, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive psychiatric care to women and their families during the perinatal period.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist psychiatric care to women and their families during the perinatal period, up until the index child is four years of age.
- Develop and implement a community-based mental health service that positively impacts the lives of parents and families in need within the local community.
- Provide secondary perinatal and infant mental health consultation and liaison services.
- Contribute to the multidisciplinary team, valuing input from different professions.
- Provide clinical education, training, development, and clinical supervision of clinicians, trainees, and students as appropriate.
- Work in partnership with other relevant health services and agencies to develop, implement, and evaluate perinatal and infant mental health promotion, prevention, and early intervention initiatives.
- Build quality relationships with stakeholders, including consumers, carers, SJGHC caregivers, GPs, service providers, and others.
- Ensure Child Safe practices are inherent in working with children and young and vulnerable people in all areas of service delivery.
Requirements
- Registration from the Medical Board of Australia.
- Fellowship of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatry or equivalent.
- Demonstrated substantial clinical experience in the management of high acuity patients in a complex hospital environment.
- Ability to implement sustainable change to improve patient safety and reduce unnecessary delays in patient management.

- Salary: $332,650 to $437,707 per annum, plus 11.5% superannuation.
