Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Plant Pathology

Charles Sturt University is seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Plant Pathology to join our research team. The successful candidate will contribute to a research project investigating aspects of grapevine and other horticultural diseases.

The Role

  • Fixed Term (up to 3 years), Full time
  • Level A/B – AUD$90,822 pa to AUD$121,504 pa (plus 17% superannuation)
  • Wagga Wagga (relocation assistance available)

The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will work closely with the Principal Scientist and undertake and complete independent high-level data collection, report on findings to the project team, as well as identifying new research project areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field, laboratory, and glasshouse trials in investigations of fungal pathogens of agricultural/horticultural crops
  • Develop rapid diagnostics using molecular tools (qPCR, LAMP)
  • Contribute to the development of new research project areas

Requirements

  • Doctoral or close to completing a doctoral qualification in plant pathology, mycology, microbiology, molecular biology or equivalent accreditation and standing
  • Ability to plan and undertake field, laboratory, and glasshouse trials
  • Ability to develop rapid diagnostics using molecular tools
