Plant Pathology Research Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Plant Pathology Research Specialist to join our research team at Charles Sturt University. The successful candidate will contribute to a project investigating aspects of grapevine and other horticultural diseases, focusing on the epidemiology and management of grapevine wood diseases.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with researchers on a project to support the sustainability of the Australian wine industry.
- Design and conduct laboratory, glasshouse, and field experiments to investigate fungal pathogens of agricultural/horticultural crops.
- Develop rapid diagnostics using molecular tools (qPCR, LAMP).
- Contribute to data collection, analysis, and report preparation for the project team.
- A doctoral or close to completing a doctoral qualification in plant pathology, mycology, microbiology, molecular biology, or equivalent accreditation and standing.
- Strong background in plant pathology, with experience in planning and conducting field, laboratory, and glasshouse trials.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to develop new research ideas and approaches.
- Fixed-term appointment up to 3 years, full-time.
- Aud $90,822 pa to Aud $121,504 pa, plus 17% superannuation.
