About the Opportunity

We are seeking an Academic Leader in Plant Science and Horticulture to join our team at Charles Sturt University.

Job Description

This is a key leadership role that will drive research excellence, innovation, and impact in the field of plant science and horticulture. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of academic achievement, research output, and leadership experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a program of work that generates positive impact on industry, biodiversity, local built environments, and cultural practices.
  • Develop a program of research with unique and high-value outputs related to growth and production of selected crops in protected and unprotected environments.
  • Make a distinguished contribution to the development, implementation, and promotion of research efforts, including publication in leading world-class journals.
Requirements
  • A doctoral qualification relevant to the discipline.
  • A distinguished record of academic achievement of national and/or international standing through contributions, including academic leadership, production of research and creative works above world-class level in the field of plant science/horticulture.
  • Significant experience and comprehensive knowledge of the plant science/horticulture field, with recognition as a leading authority at a national and international level, evidenced by publication and citation rates and other discipline-specific metrics.
  • Track record of sourcing significant external funding, including large multi-year grants, to build and maintain a long-term research program, including funding for postdoctoral staff and students.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership and build people capability, especially integrating into a large and diverse research institute.
  • Demonstrated success in identifying, building, and maintaining strong partnerships, networks, and relationships to achieve professional and team objectives.
