Ventilation Systems Specialist

Our team is seeking a highly skilled Ventilation Systems Specialist to play a key role in the tactical and strategic management of underground mine ventilation systems and infrastructure. You will support a broad range of technical and operational stakeholders, focusing on ventilation systems, underground environments, and their impact on safety, production, cost efficiency, and long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure compliance with legislative, internal, and best practice ventilation standards
  • Develop, review, and implement ventilation plans for development, production, and project activities
  • Contribute to planning processes (monthly, stope, mine block, 2YB/5YP) with a focus on safety, reliability, and cost
  • Provide input into ventilation modelling and major projects
  • Undertake surveys, air balancing, vent adjustments, and fan management
  • Monitor system performance, conduct fault-finding, and recommend improvements
  • Build and maintain accurate VentSim models of mine ventilation systems
  • Support the use and development of Ventilation on Demand (VoD) systems
  • Identify and manage ventilation-related risks and controls
About You / Qualifications:
  • Degree in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of mine ventilation and design software (VentSim, Deswik)
  • Ability to interpret limited monitoring data, identify issues, and develop validation processes
  • Skilled in developing and comparing ventilation strategies and risk mitigation plans
  • Excellent communication skills to influence, document clearly, and engage stakeholders
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to work across multiple teams
  • Experience in mine ventilation (execution, planning, scheduling, or as a ventilation officer)
  • Strong problem-solving ability with minimal supervision
