About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Production Operations Lead to oversee our compost production team at our large scale facility in Sydney. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for driving safety, quality, and process performance, ensuring consistent delivery of a high-performing compost product.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement workplace safety initiatives
  • Lead day-to-day operations of production team personnel, including scheduling, rostering, training, and team development
  • Initiate, train, validate, and improve departmental SOPs related to machine operation and phase processes
  • Drive departmental efficiencies, process optimization, and continuous improvement
  • Oversee quality control and inspection programs
  • Monitor tunnel control programs and process equipment, responding to system alarms and troubleshooting as needed
  • Manage raw materials and ingredients/brew make-ups
  • Collaborate with the management team to execute weekly/monthly goals
  • Work with external specialists, agriculture technologists, and consultants to enhance processes
  • Manage departmental inventory and consumables

About You

You're an experienced leader who excels in manufacturing and production environments, with a passion for developing people and processes. You bring a practical mindset, strong leadership, and a commitment to safety, quality, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in agronomy, horticulture, agriculture, or plant science (desired)
  • Proven experience in production management or senior supervisory roles, preferably in horticulture or agriculture
  • Proven people management skills with an adaptive leadership style, focused on delivering exceptional outcomes for teams and clients
  • Familiarity with WHS industry standards; formal WHS training is highly regarded
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and a solutions-focused mindset
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with a focus on time efficiency
  • Excellent communication skills; approachable, motivating, and responsive to departmental needs
  • Licences: Forklift Licence (preferred), Australian Driver Licence
