About the Position

The successful candidate will be instrumental in tracking supply and demand fundamentals, reporting on daily and weekly metallurgical coal prices, and writing analytical pieces that differentiate our content offering.

  • Track supply and demand fundamentals of the seaborne metallurgical coal and coke market.
  • Report on metallurgical coal prices on a daily and weekly basis, informing our key indexes. Develop a deep understanding of pricing drivers, including S&D, supply chain, and derivatives markets.
  • Write breaking news and in-depth analytical pieces that differentiate our content offering on metallurgical coal and coke.
  • Research and write on big-picture issues affecting supply-side economics, including policy developments, geopolitics, investment climate, and ESG.
  • Be a key contributor to the production of the daily metallurgical coal publication.
  • Maintain strong contact networks with sources and build client and industry relationships.
  • Engage actively in business development, supporting account managers in sales processes through pipeline maintenance and sales assistance.
  • Represent us as a public face in the coal space, via client engagements, industry presentations, media interviews, and content marketing.
Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience in commodities reporting or research, including financial reporting or market analysis roles.
  • A keen sense of news and storytelling skills, with the ability to write clearly and effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with experience working as an effective team player.
  • Strong quantitative skills are advantageous.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with others.
  • A sense of humor and adaptability.
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business/Finance, or Politics is viewed favorably.
