Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team. As a technical leader, you will be responsible for delivering innovative solutions and high-quality projects for our clients. You will help develop a robust, skilled, and motivated team capable of sustaining long-term success.

Your primary focus will be on the design of gates, regulating structures, outlet works, valves, fish screens, and other mechanical aspects of water storage dam infrastructure. You will provide mentoring and work closely with the rest of the team to develop sustainable capability in our Australia-based team and globally.

You will lead and oversee the delivery of quality technical solutions and successful project outcomes that satisfy our clients' needs. Your active participation in client relationship management, business development, and the development of proposals and technical reports is also essential.

Responsibilities
  • Design gates, regulating structures, outlet works, valves, fish screens, and other mechanical aspects of water storage dam infrastructure.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to the team.
  • Lead and oversee the delivery of quality technical solutions and successful project outcomes.
  • Participate in client relationship management, business development, and proposal development.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 15 years' experience in a consulting environment, specifically in the design and specification of gates, hoists, outlet works, trash racks, and screens, fishways, pipe work, valves, and other mechanical equipment associated with dams.
  • Experience at all project phases, including project identification, feasibility studies, conceptual design, reference design, and detailed design.
  • Risk assessments and dam safety inspections or condition assessments of hydromechanical plant.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplined teams, including geologists, structural engineers, hydraulic engineers, dams engineers, and electrical and civil engineers.
