Job Title: Commis Chef

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Commis Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team at Novotel Surfers Paradise. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting in the effective operation of the kitchen and working in a team to provide quality and a high level of service to guests while adhering to kitchen policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Food production in accordance with requirements while ensuring correct methods of cooking, consistency in product, and quality.
  • Ensure the overall cleanliness and health and safety aspects of the kitchen are maintained at all times.
  • Responsible for proper storage, labeling, and use of all food supplies to prevent unnecessary spoilage and to maintain cost control.
  • Assist in the supervision of junior kitchen staff by providing instruction of duties.
  • Be a positive team member with a 'Can Do' attitude.
Requirements:
  • Commercial Cookery Qualification – Cert III or IV.
  • An experienced Chef with a creative flair and able to work across a la carte dining and functions and events.
  • Familiar with Food Safety and WHS legislation.
  • A passion for locally sourced and seasonal produce.
  • A desire to develop among a driven and professional team.
  • Ability to work autonomously on a section or within a fast-paced team.
  • Availability to work a flexible roster, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Hold valid full working rights in Australia to be able to work a full-time roster, sponsorship not available.
