Safety and Compliance Officer

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safety and Compliance Officer to join our team at Lithgow City Council.
As a key member of our workforce, you will be responsible for driving improvements to our Work Health and Safety program across Council using a customer-focused approach. This includes implementing appropriate policies, processes, strategies, and plans that foster a safe workplace.
Main Responsibilities- Assist with the implementation of Council's Work Health and Safety Management system, including consultation, emergency preparedness, investigation, and corrective action.
- Report and provide advice to management and staff on Work Health and Safety-related matters.
- Undertake training in relation to Work Health and Safety and stay up-to-date with relevant legislation and regulations.
- Be the visible and available Work Health and Safety resource in the field, consulting with workers at all sites and modelling safe behaviours.
- Support managers and supervisors in implementing new and updated policies and procedures, and meeting Council's Work Health and Safety objectives and targets.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment with relevant experience.
- Diploma-level Work Health and Safety qualifications and extensive experience relevant to the role.
- Class C Drivers Licence.
- Demonstrated experience in incident management, safety investigations, and risk management.
- Proven influencing skills and ability to create strong working relationships with stakeholders.
- Experience in administering, reviewing, reporting, and documenting Work Health and Safety processes.
- High-level computer skills, including operating systems, office suites, presentation software, spreadsheets, and communication tools.
- A competitive salary range of $80,000 - $100,000 per annum.
