Lithgow City Council is seeking a Work Health and Safety Officer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of work health and safety principles, risk management, and compliance with relevant legislation.

**Key Responsibilities:
**
- Assist with the implementation of the Work Health and Safety Management system, including consultation, emergency preparedness, investigation and corrective action, WHS audits and specific hazards associated with Lithgow City Council operations.
- Provide advice to management and staff on work health and safety related matters.
- Undertake and attend training in relation to work health and safety.
- Be the visible and available Work Health and Safety resource in the field, consulting with workers at all sites, modeling safe behaviors and encouraging model WHS behaviors in workers.
- Support managers and supervisors in implementing new and updated policies and procedures, and in meeting Council's Work Health and Safety objectives and targets for their section.
- Provide professional and detailed recommendations on the reduction and elimination of risks and hazards in accordance with work health and safety legislation and regulations.

**Requirements:
**
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment with relevant experience.
- Diploma Level Work Health and Safety qualifications and extensive experience relevant to the role.
- Class C Drivers Licence.
- Demonstrated experience in the facilitation of end-to-end Incident Management processes to drive an accountable and positive safety culture in a large organization.
- Proven experience in undertaking complex safety investigations with the ability to interpret, evaluate and measure results and utilize the learnings to proactively drive and facilitate positive change.
- Proven high level influencing skills coupled with the ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders to promote a robust safety culture to achieve positive outcomes.
- Proven experience in administrating, reviewing, reporting and documenting Work Health and Safety processes within a medium sized organization.
- Proven high-level computer skills including; operating systems, office suites, presentation software, spreadsheets and communication tools.
- Demonstrated comprehensive understanding and application of relevant legislation, and risk management principles, in the workplace to drive change and influence positive outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in working as part of a successful team and in addition, the ability to be self-sufficient, working autonomously as required.
- An open, honest and professional attitude

**What We Offer:

- Between $1,568.10 and $1,761.90 per week, commensurate with your skills, qualifications and experience.
