Job Description

An electrical mechanic is required to perform a variety of tasks including reading blueprints, testing and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment, and performing machining operations.

  • Reading blueprints determines work requirements
  • Testing and observing electrical and mechanical conditions of equipment
  • Troubleshooting and repairing electric motors, transformers, switchgear, generators and other electro-mechanical equipment
  • Replacing or reconditioning shafts, bearings, commutators and other components
  • Winding, assembling and installing various types of coils
  • Performing static or dynamic balancing of armatures or rotors
  • Performing some machining to recondition or modify shafts, commutators or other parts
  • Testing and repairing or replacing faulty wiring or components in electrical switchgear
  • Testing repaired motors, transformers, switchgear or other electrical apparatus to ensure proper performance
  • Completing work orders, test and maintenance reports
  • Testing electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance
  • Maintaining, repairing, testing and installing electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems
Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Education: A trades certificate or diploma, or equivalent experience
  • Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years
  • On-site work at a physical location; on-site requirement
  • Ability to distinguish colours; attention to detail
  • Personal suitability: Excellent oral communication, Dependability, Organized
Work Environment
  • Handling heavy loads
  • Work must be completed at the physical location; there is no option to work remotely
Location and Terms
  • Location: Brampton, ON L6W 3R3
  • Work location: On site
  • Salary: $36.00 per hour, 42.5 hours per week
  • Terms of employment: Permanent employment, Full time
