Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Workshop Operations Manager to join our team at Northline. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of our fleet of heavy vehicles, light vehicles, and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure a Safe Working Environment: Oversee the implementation and enforcement of Northline's Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all staff, contractors, and visitors.
- Maintenance and Repair: Work closely with the Fleet Supervisor to schedule maintenance and servicing of vehicles and trailers, prioritize emergency repairs and breakdowns, and manage the maintenance of all workshop equipment.
- Training and Development: Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring to mechanics, apprentices, and other contractors to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Inventory Management: Forecast and control stock levels for workshop consumables, identify and order the correct parts for workshop repair jobs, and ensure that all inventory is properly stored and maintained.
- Outsourced Work: In conjunction with the Maintenance Coordinator, manage all outsourced work, including the scope of work, quoting, and quality control of all work performed.
- Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on vehicles and equipment to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
- Preventive Maintenance: Plan and organize the Preventive Maintenance System in accordance with the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) parameters, delegate specific tasks to ensure compliance with the regulator.
Requirements:
- Extensive Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in mobile equipment maintenance, with a strong understanding of vehicle standards, NHVAS regulations, and maintenance management.
- Leadership and Supervisory Skills: Well-honed leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team to achieve their goals.
- Qualifications: Engineering trade qualification, preferably Heavy-Duty Truck Mechanic or Diesel Fitter, or equivalent.
- Driver's Licence: HR Driver's Licence.
- Experience with Heavy Equipment: Experience with trucks, including Kenworth, Mac, Volvo, Freightliner, Hino, UD Nissan, and Mitsubishi, and trailers, including Vaudry and GMC Tautliners, Flat-tops, skels, and Fridge vans.
- Experience with Engines: Experience with engines, including Caterpillar C-15 and C-16, Cummins, Volvo, Hino, and UD Nissan.
