The Public Relations team at The Vanguard Group sits within our Corporate Communications function, which includes Internal Communications and Strategic Communications. As we continue to grow and evolve as a business, our public relations function plays a critical role in enhancing our reputation and increasing awareness of our brand among retail investors and the general public.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Relations Manager to join our team. As a Public Relations Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective communication strategies and plans that support our business objectives. You will work closely with our internal stakeholders to identify opportunities to enhance our brand reputation and increase awareness of our products and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop communications solutions that drive identified outcomes and translate business strategies and initiatives into messaging and content.
  • Primarily responsible for driving the consumer-focused aspect of our public relations strategy.
  • Create effective and compelling communications content based on a deep understanding of our target audience and the broader operating environment.
  • Drive the execution of all phases of the communications process, including conception, implementation, and measurement.
  • Resolve conflicts over content or communication channel recommendations by acting as a trusted advisor to influence, coach, and negotiate with stakeholders.
  • Improve end-to-end communication processes by applying current and evolving industry standards, while complying with our brand guidelines.
  • Develop and strengthen working relationships with key influencers across the organization and in the industry to support communications and business objectives.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proven experience (minimum seven years) in public relations roles within financial services and related fields is highly desirable.
  • Ability to build and expand relationships with journalists, generate standout media coverage, and pitch stories in consumer media.
  • Exceptional research skills and written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify and convey complex policy issues to diverse audiences.
  • Extensive understanding of social, political, and regulatory developments that are of relevance to our firm, our clients, and our staff.
  • Proven ability to nurture strategic partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders, leveraging your influence to create a robust network that drives our brand forward.

Specialisations that will make an impact

  • RG146 certification will be advantageous.
