We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Ecologist to join our Sydney-based team. As a Senior Ecologist, you will play a key role in supporting the growth of our NSW team, particularly in the impact assessment and renewables industries.
Key Responsibilities- Project Management: Lead and manage environmental surveys and impact assessments of terrestrial ecosystems, including flora and fauna, biodiversity, and habitat.
- Advanced Plant Community Identification: Utilize advanced plant community identification skills to inform project decisions.
- Field Survey Coordination: Coordinate and lead field surveys, including terrestrial flora and fauna, to ensure accurate data collection.
- Legislative Compliance: Understand and apply relevant impact assessment legislation to ensure compliance with ecological projects.
- Technical Reporting: Produce high-quality technical reports and provide technical review to support project deliverables.
- Team Support: Provide technical support, mentoring, and assistance to the team to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Problem-Solving: Identify issues and develop appropriate solutions to ensure project success.
- Education: Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resources, or a related field.
- Accreditation: BAM Accreditation is advantageous but not essential.
- Experience: A minimum of 4 years' experience in either an environmental consultancy or the public sector, including undertaking ecological/environmental surveys and report production.
- Technical Skills: Experience using Arc GIS, ESRI, and ePrimer.
- Flora and Fauna Identification: High-level flora and fauna identification skills.
- Report Writing: Advanced report writing skills.
- Interpersonal Skills: Comprehensive interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Travel: Flexibility to travel occasionally.
