Job Title: Aboriginal Forensic Mental Health Clinician

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Aboriginal Forensic Mental Health Clinician to join our multidisciplinary team at the Forensic Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering culturally responsive care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality clinical services to patients, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient-centered care plans.
  • Provide cultural consultation and guidance to enhance the delivery of culturally safe care.
  • Liaise with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations and other stakeholders to promote best practice in Aboriginal mental health.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health - Djirruwang Graduate).
  • Full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse, Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, or eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Evidence of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent (pursuant to Section 14 (d) of the Anti-discrimination Act NSW 1977).

The Forensic Hospital is a high-secure forensic mental health facility in New South Wales, operated by Justice Health NSW. This facility provides specialist, therapeutic inpatient care for adults and adolescent forensic, correctional, and high-risk civil patients.
