Culturally responsive care plays a crucial role in delivering therapeutic services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients within a Forensic Hospital setting.

This dynamic position requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, liaison with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, and consultation with Aboriginal patients' families and carers to ensure culturally appropriate care.

  • Provide cultural advocacy and support to patients and their families
  • Work collaboratively with Justice Health Network staff to enhance the broader Forensic Mental Health system
  • Liaise with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations to ensure culturally responsive care
Key Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, or Occupational Therapy
  • Full Registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse, Psychologist, or Occupational Therapist, or eligibility for membership with AASW as a Social Worker
  • Evidence of Diversity claim if applicable (state which category): Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander

The Forensic Hospital is a high-secure forensic mental health facility in New South Wales that provides specialist, therapeutic inpatient care for adults and adolescent forensic, correctional, and high-risk civil patients.

A multidisciplinary team of medical, nursing, and allied health professionals provide care across the clinical spectrum, from high dependency and acute care to long stay and rehabilitation care.
