Indigenous Engagement Specialist Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to fill the role of Indigenous Engagement Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our organization's journey towards reconciliation and make a meaningful impact in the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain relationships with community members, cultural leaders, businesses, and service providers to increase awareness of Indigenous culture and issues.
- Develop and implement culturally appropriate initiatives and services that will enhance engagement and access to our services within First Nations communities.
- Improve cultural awareness and understanding through workshops, training sessions, and community events.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Prior experience working respectfully with First Nations and culturally and linguistically diverse individuals, communities, staff, and organizations.
- A strong understanding of Australian First Nations history, protocols, and significant people and events.
- Demonstrated capacity to build confidence and motivate participants, and act as a role model for indigenous youth.
