About the Role

The Australian Government Department of Defence is seeking an experienced Deputy Director Business Operations Manager to join our Finance Procurement and Estate team.

This exciting opportunity is based in the ERP Support Organisation (ESO) which supports the Defence Digital Group to deliver Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) services to the Defence community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert guidance on business operations, including procurement, contract, and budget management for the Directorate.
  • Lead the administration of Directorate business activities, including risk and issue management, travel, file management systems, and audit requirements.
  • Assist with communication strategies, develop business outcomes, and evaluate effectiveness.
  • Manage allocated resources, prioritise work area tasks, and oversee workflows.
  • Lead and manage teams by allocating resources effectively to achieve results.
  • Oversee the onboarding and offboarding process, ongoing team development, and build effective relationships with team members and stakeholders.
About Our Team

The ERP Support Organisation (ESO) plays a critical role in coordinating ERP sustainment services across legacy applications and new S/4 HANA capabilities.

We adopt the DDG Service Integration and Management (SIAM) framework for end-to-end ICT service integration and deliver integrated governance, operating model, processes, and structure in support of the ERP Operating Model.

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • High-level knowledge of legislative frameworks, government decision-making, and Defence's mission and policy.
  • Extensive experience in ICT business management and administration.
  • Excellent analytical skills and high attention to detail.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing geographically distributed and culturally diverse work groups.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with refined relationship-building skills to influence people at various levels.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills, with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in contract management and Government procurement practices.
About You

We estimate the salary for this role to be around $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on your level of experience and qualifications.
