Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Highways Engineer to join our core Civil Infrastructure business unit in Sydney. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in leading civil engineering design and delivery on a diverse range of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with key clients and contractors to ensure effective communication and representation of Arcadis.
  • Provide technical leadership for selected projects, overseeing resource allocation, collaboration with design disciplines, and ensuring client expectations are met.
  • Take technical responsibility for all aspects of civil and highways design, including road alignment, road furniture, signs & lines, earthworks, construction staging, and constructability.
  • Develop a deep understanding of our clients' businesses to build effective relationships and enhance credibility in the industry.
  • Provide direction to the project team, promoting awareness of technical and commercial risk assessments, mitigation, and best value design options.
  • Supervise and assess junior engineers, road designers, and CAD Technicians, guiding them in project delivery and professional development.
Requirements

  • Extensive design experience (> 10 years) delivering transport and civil infrastructure projects.
  • Relevant engineering degree with Chartered status or equivalent professional accreditation.
  • Demonstrated technical and commercial acumen with proven experience of managing and delivering design solutions.
  • Proven ability to lead, with good influencing, motivation, and delegation skills.
  • Sound knowledge and experience working with local design standards, including Austroads Guide to Road Design and specifications.
