Job Title:

Water Conservation Specialist

Melbourne Water is seeking a skilled Water Conservation Specialist to join our team.

As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing and improving Melbourne's waterways, catchments, drainage, and land assets. This includes collaborating with stakeholders, developing and implementing effective management approaches, and supervising consultants and projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and improve waterways, catchments, drainage, and land assets through effective planning and management.
  • Collaborate with local governments, community groups, and first nations' groups to deliver impactful programs and initiatives.
  • Develop and implement management approaches for a range of situations, including flood protection and drainage functions in the Upper Merri Ck and Maribyrnong catchments.
  • Supervise consultants and manage projects and contracts to ensure successful outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Strong relationship-building skills to engage with Traditional Owners.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, including adaptability and determination.
  • Experience in waterway, catchment, drainage, and land asset management, natural resource management, waterway planning, and rehabilitation practices, as well as statutory planning processes.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate clearly and effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Project and contract management skills, including supervision of consultants.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with demonstrated resilience.
