Policy Advisor Position

Treasury seeks talented individuals for multiple Policy Analyst positions within the Personal and Indirect Tax and Charities Division.

We are seeking applicants with strong analytical frameworks and experience or an interest in public policy including taxation and not-for-profits regulation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing advice to Government on public policy issues including tax policy and assisting in the preparation of reports Cabinet submissions briefing for Ministers and senior officials;
  • Developing and maintaining productive relationships with other government agencies and stakeholders in the private sector industry and academia.
Branches

The job roles are available across three branches:

  • The Personal and Small Business Tax Branch provides policy advice on tax issues affecting all taxpayers.
  • The Not-for-profits and Tax Administration Branch provides advice to government on the regulatory framework for not-for-profit entities.
  • The Indirect Tax Branch provides policy advice relating to Goods and Services Tax State Taxes Fuel Alcohol and Tobacco Excise.
Requirements
  • Ability to link tasks to strategic objectives and deliver to agreed timeframes;

  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships working collaboratively and respectfully at all times;
