Child Protection Counselling Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity for a clinician to join the Child Protection Counselling Service in South Western Sydney.

The service provides trauma-specific services responding to violence, abuse and neglect involving children and young people.

Clients include adults, children, young people and families. The service offers individual, couple and family counselling as well as therapy sessions to children and young people after clinical assessment.

The type of sessions facilitated depends on the needs of the family. Groupwork is also provided to clients of the service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert counselling and therapy services to individuals, couples and families who have experienced trauma.
  • Develop and implement individualised treatment plans that meet the specific needs of each client.
  • Work collaboratively with other health professionals to provide comprehensive care to clients.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions and progress.

Essential Requirements

  1. A Social Work degree or Registration as a Psychologist with relevant professional bodies.
  2. Demonstrated experience prioritising work and managing stressful situations.
  3. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a small team and build partnerships with local agencies.
  4. Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to quality processes, and the application of evidenced based practice within counselling.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in providing counselling, groupwork and/or casework to adults, children, young people and/or families.
  6. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license.
